It’s just after 2PM on a wet, Maine afternoon. From my position on the wall, I can see everything that Tina, Russ, and Helene are doing. Wow, there’s been so many changes since I first started hanging out with them!
They used to be in so many different places – Tina working one place, Russ another, and Helene, well I never knew where she was. But now, they’ve given me a new home and with each swing of my pendulum, I get a different glimpse of the changes at MAINE ISLAND SOAP SHOPPE. New windows, a stove, lots of shelves, and a cabinet that has a family history I can’t wait to tell you about!
But first I want to share a bit of my history. I’ve been with Helene for nearly 20 years. Can you believe it? I used to hang out in the downstairs apartment – right by a stove that was old enough to be my grandparent – maybe even my great grandparent. Oh, the stories I could tell you about the July 4th parties Helene and her beloved husband, Paul, would throw! Can you imagine more than 75 lobsters being boiled on that crazy stove? Those parties would get cuckoo!
Well, it’s almost time for my 3 o’clock crow. Next time I’ll try to tell you more about what I see from my perch. Tina, Russ, and Helene, have so much more cooking, but I know they want to thank you for buying their soaps. They’re always talking about how much they appreciate you!♥
