Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see…
This Irving Berlin classic has a long, distinguished history. Written in 1926, at the last minute for a new musical, Betsy, it was a surprise, instant hit. The audience demanded 24 encores on opening night. Betsy itself only lasted for 39 performances. But Blue Skies has withstood the test of time with recordings by such mega stars as Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Count Basie, and Willie Nelson.
Blue Skies is seen as a symbol of cheer and while the way it is sung changes from blues to crooning to jazz to country, it’s happy essence continually comes through.
The same can be said for a change in one of our soaps – did you notice that we no longer make the Honey n’Oats bar? As a Certified Vegan vendor, we needed to find a way to bring the benefits of honey to our bars in a new way. Our choice? Maple syrup.
Did you know that maple syrup fights wrinkles, reduces dryness, and promotes healthy, vibrant skin? It also contains Vitamins A and B, antioxidants, and even some anti-bacterial properties. Pairing maple syrup with oats adds a way to soften your skin through the natural, exfoliating characteristic of the grains.
Check out our Maple & Oats bar which will arrive in our new, contemporary packaging. These eco-friendly boxes complement our belief system to be conscious of the environment. Recyclable, they express the simple, clean nature of Maine Island Soap. While you’re checking out the shop, take a look at the rest of our soaps. If you haven’t tried them all, you don’t know what you might be missing!
We hope you have a wonderful spring. It’s a delightful time of renewal, growth, and yes, lots of rain. But what do they say? April showers bring May flowers. Can’t wait to see what else might bloom! As always, thank you for your patronage! ♥
